Domaine de MasLauris
Who: In 2012, Didier Theophile purchased and set about redesigning the property. It has benefited from a complete renovation with the construction of a brand new gravity winery, preceded by the grubbing up of the original vineyard and replanting of nearly 10 hectares of young vines.
Where: Lauris, 84360.
The Domaine MasLauris is located in the heart of Provence, on one of the finest terroir of the Luberon. The vineyard property extends over gentle, rolling hills, near the village of Lauris, situated between the Luberon and the Durance. From the property, one discovers a magnificent panorama of the Luberon, from the peak of the Mourre Négre to the Montagne Sainte-Victoire, by way of Aix-en-Provence.
Vineyards: The entire vignoble was replanted with carefully selected baby vines in order to find the same quality as the finest wines of the Rhone Valley. Particular care is used in vine management, following organic agriculture methods. The Domaine MasLauris has chosen to use the same grape varieties used to produce some of the great wines of the Rhône and the south of France: Syrah, Grenache noir, Mourvèdre and Cinsault for the red and rosé wines, Roussanne, Grenache Blanc, Vermentino and Viognier for the white wines. Harvests are entirely manual, harvested at optimum ripeness, thanks to our own rigorous monitoring of grape maturity
Cellar: Vinification at the winery is carried out in a gentle though rigorous manner, as naturally as possible and with respect for the harvested grapes. It is conducted with the guidance of Michel Tardieu, who grew up in Lauris, the very place where the vineyard is located.
